Letter to Drinking Water and Recreational Waters Compliance Section

South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s
May 3, 1999

Vac-Alert Industries, Inc.
Attn: Mr. Ron Schroader, Technical Director
3245 Oleander Avenue Oleander Business Park
Ft. Pierce, Florida 34982

Dear Mr. Schroader:

Please consider this correspondence as notification of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s (SCDHEC) acceptance of the Vac-Alert™ Industries, LLC Industries anti-entrapment valve, when properly installed, as an equivalency to a second main drain in previously constructed public swimming pools, spas, and other commercial aquatic bodies which do not at this time, meet the required specifications for dual drains.

This valve shall not be installed in new construction in lieu of the required second drain. However, it may be used in conjunction with the dual drains in an existing pool as long as a  SCDHEC "change order" has been approved by the Department prior to the valve’s installation.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call me at (803) 898-4015.

Sincerely,

L. James Ridge
